Seminole Group - Bismuth

Bismuth has a half-life longer than the estimated age of the universe!

The chemical element bismuth (Bi) is a heavy, brittle, white-silver poor metal. Of all the metals it is the most naturally diamagnetic which means Bismuth has the ability to create a magnetic field in opposition of an externally applied magnetic force.

Bismuth is generally considered the last naturally occurring, stable element on the periodic table. Although it is slightly radioactive, it is said to have a half-life longer than the estimated age of the universe.

This metal has high electrical resistance and the second lowest thermal conductivity. Like water, Bismuth is denser in its solid phase than in the liquid and it expands when frozen.

Bismuth compounds are used in cosmetics, medicines and medical procedures.
